Conformation Handling by Chris Ellen Rakyta

                                                                      

Text Box: I would highly recommend Chris Rakyta as a handler.  She showed Skylar (Ch Mollybrook’s Reach Skyward, CD, WD, CGC, TDI) and took her from her first point to her championship.  It took us less than one year to accomplish this task.  Chris always made it fun for Skylar, which showed in the dog’s performance.  The fact that Chris made it fun was the most important point in the process for me.  Skylar was usually up and happy to show.  I originally trained Skylar for the conformation ring and Chris easily adapted her show style to match the dog.  This was also very important to me as an owner.  Skylar could show herself if given a chance, and Chris gave her that opportunity. Chris and Skylar became a team, working together and not fighting against one another.  I would bring Skylar to the show bathed and combed out and Chris would handle the final grooming.  Skylar was always prepared to go into the ring.  There was never a time when the dog was shown that she wasn’t ready to show.  In addition, Chris was always professionally dressed, in a style appropriate for the dog she was showing.  One final point, Chris never pushed me to show Skylar.  Skylar couldn’t handle showing more than two days in a row.  She was just not a dog who could handle a four day show weekend.  Chris never pushed me to push Skylar past her limit.  This understanding of the dog and the owner makes Chris an excellent choice as a handler.  I would be willing to speak to you in person if you have any additional questions.  I can be reached at edith.markoff@cchmc.org                                         ~Edith Markoff
